Jackie Robinson's Birthday - January 31, 1919

As cliche as it sounds, he is a real American hero.

Broke the color barrier in Major League Baseball in 1947, and turns out he was a top notch Basketball player too.

Check out a profile by Hank Aaron for Time Magazine's "The Most Important People of the Century".

  3. For another side of Jackie, check out this children's book: http://tinyurl.com/4nhdcey.

"Testing the Ice" tells the story of Jackie learning to skate in his older years.

I just got it for my nephew. I'm not completely enamored with the illustrations, but it's a great story.
