Pour Some Sugar

This movie is awesome. Go see it.

It somehow avoids formula and stereotypes but is never anything but natural and subtle. Perfect film for Spring.

Gambit! What? This actually looks pretty cool.

t.A.T.u on the "Big" Screen... Finally?

You and I. A t.A.T.u movie. Yes, that t.A.T.u.

The pseudo-lesbian techno lolitas have a movie based around them, which itself is based on a novel about them. The movie stars none other than The O.C. pout mistress Mischa Barton (with a fake Russian accent no less).

Directed by Rolan Joffé, him of past films like The Mission, and more recent fiascos like Captivity. I wouldn't be surprised if this doesn't even make it to video in North America.

Below is the trailer. Starts off awesome: "Lana was a beatiful girl..." and keeps getting better (ie. worse).

New Hulk Trailer

Second time around they seem to have got it right. More solitude, more tension, and less Liv Tyler speaking. Check it out.

Popquiz: What Toronto building is featured in this trailer? (no Zanzibar in this one)

Still, it seems no match for Iron Man and TDK, just bad timing I guess. If this was released last summer against the dopey Spiderman 3 and 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer, it would've ruled. Now it's just the lesser of three thinking man's comic book films.

Trailer Park

This week's most interesting trailer releases feature two very poorly named films (brought to you by M. Night Shyamalan's The Happening):

First, there's Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. We can probably thank the Pirates franchise for the clumsy title. Click here for the trailer.

I don't know, the whole thing is so congealed by nostalgia that it seems inescapably irrelevant. But it could be fun, although just remember people it's a tetralogy, not a "quadrilogy".

And then there's Olivier Assayas's new film, Boarding Gate. I'll forgive the title here since Asia Argento levels out the cool factor (click the poster for an example of what I mean). Click here for the trailer.

Although it's unlikely to reach the genius of Irma Vep, hopefully it's better than Demonlover (which is setting the bar pretty low).
